In 1955, Ryan's grandfather, Larry Grey, started Grey Studio, Inc., a graphic design company. The company had a very broad client base, ranging from DuPont, Arco Sun Oil, the Saturday Evening Post, publishing companies, Coors Beer, among many others.
When Ryan was young he asked his grandpa if it would be okay to use the name in a future business. He of course said ok and the seed was planted for the future GREY design studio.
